Floors

I am so, so excited to say that all of my new flooring is in!! It took a while, but it was worth it because I love it! Jeremy finished Jake’s room tonight. Poor guy still has a lot to do (trim in the whole house, cabinets, countertops, ceiling and wall). This is one time when I guess I should be glad we have a small house :)!

Thanks, Jeremy! I know it was hard to get them done since you have been on the road so much! I appreciate you. You’re making it harder for me to want to sell the house :)! Love you!

You know what this means…one step closer to a homestudy.

Part 2 of our week

I think that last post was a little bit negative. Sorry about that! Things are going much better. Poor little Cara is not feeling good and having some tummy troubles. Jake and Abby seem to be feeling much better.

I know some of you prayed for us and I really appreciate that!

This week so far…

Sunday evening - Cara woke up with a fever

Monday morning - Cara is vomiting and Abby wakes with fever

Monday night - Jake gets a fever and headache, Abby is vomiting

Tuesday - everyone is still sick, Abby doesn’t sleep much at all

Wednesday - everyone is feeling better but Jeremy gets a call from a plant in Tennessee that needs some safety help asap and he leaves

he’s supposed to be home tomorrow but decided to go ahead and go to Alabama since he was needing to be there next week. i wonder if he will stay home all week next week (hint, hint). when i say stay home, he still goes to work…he is in the same state though and we like that better :)!

my machine caught on fire and has been in the shop for over a week. they finally looked at it and had to order a part so it will not be done for a while and orders are piling up leaving me feeling a bit stressed. i think it is time to upgrade…

Praying and hoping that the rest of the week goes much better! I was reminded of some verses that brought me much encouragement today. I find that after everyone is in bed I tend to think too much and since I am by myself a lot there is no one to tell my thoughts to. I am thankful that I can pray. I told a neighbor last night that we weren’t sure if Abby is allergic to dogs or cats yet so we are avoiding getting a pet. Jake said, “Mom, if you aren’t sure, you should just ask God because he knows everything.” What a smart boy. As I stood there with the neighbor he kept insisting that I ask God right that second. He seems to understand that you can go to the Lord with anything at anytime! What an encouragement from my wild and crazy boy.

I hope that your week is going well!

My Sisters

I enjoy dressing the girls alike. They don’t always match exactly, but when there are coordinating sets I almost always buy them each one. Okay…I always do. For some reason I can’t go into a store and buy only one of the girls something. I can’t help it- I just have so much fun with these two girls. The good thing is that Cara enjoys this so I will take advantage of it while I can. I bought them these cheap $5.00 one piece outfits at Wal-Mart the other day and who knew Cara would love it so much. Besides her new Princes Aurora dress, this new outfit is her favorite. (I left my camera at my Mom’s, but will get some pictures up soon of the princess dress).

Anyhow, I got them dressed and Cara said, “Look Mommy…I have one and Abby has one.” I still think it is funny when she acts surprised that Abby has matching clothes. She almost always points out to me that they match. So I said something about how I always wished I had a sister and she gets a huge smile on her face and says, “Mommy, now you have 2 sisters!!!” I said, “Who?” She looked at me like I had two heads for not knowing that obviously it was her and Abby!

Happy 18 months, Abby

Time is flying by and Abby recently turned 18 months. My friend, Kelly, snapped these pictures of her the other night. She wasn’t incredibly cooperative as it was quite windy out and she really wanted to play. They still show her busy little personality. I call these “Windblown Abby”. I think she was purposely trying not to smile.

I have bought her a couple of navy outfits lately because I bought her some really cute navy and white polka dot maryjanes. She, like her big sister, loves shoes and works very hard to put them on. We have a hard time with shoes for her because she curls her little toes and walks right out of sandals. Big bulky shoes make her trip, but these cute little puddle jumpers seem to be a good fit for her.

Abby did well at her last checkup with her asthma/allergy doctor. He thought her lungs sounded great. We are hoping to start weaning her off of one of her daily medications in the future. Her 18 month checkup with her pediatrician left me feeling a little discouraged which is why I didn’t post about it right away. I find that sometimes I just need a little perspective and prayer. There was nothing major, but I was disappointed with her growth and with her walking (she is pigeon toed). The doctor didn’t act surprised at all and said the slow growth goes along with her asthma. Her body uses more calories trying to stay well and fighting when she is sick. Lately, she has been eating much better and has been feeling good. I think when she is not feeling good she has a really poor appetite so that had something to do with it when she was really sick about 2 months ago. Really, we are so blessed. Her problems, when managed are not that bad. We are very thankful that she is doing so well. Her little feet should correct themselves eventually.

When I pray for her I am constantly reminded of her happy spirit. She is such a joy and delight to Jeremy and I. She has recently started saying Daddy and Mommy instead of Da and Mom. It is so cute and so fun to hear her call for us. It usually sounds like Dad eeeeeee and Mom eeeeee with a big emphasis on the E sound. We are so thankful to be her parents. She is such a special little girl.

Baking Cupcakes

My Mom picked up a little cupcake kit for Cara at Williams Sonoma last night and she couldn’t wait to make them! When it was finally time to make them she went and found this cute little apron set in my inventory cabinet. I was so surprised she knew where to look. I told her the apron was made just for her because she is always hoping that whatever I am working on is for her! Jake wanted to put his on too and help. She finally allowed him to participate because this was “Her Stuff.” Towards the end Abby joined in on the fun!
